A 28-year-old woman died after she caught fire and her husband was severely burnt while trying to rescue her in Kanpur today, police said.
Kalpana caught fire when a kerosene jar kept on a shelf fell on the stove. Her husband Bablu also came in the fire's grip while trying to save her, they said.
The couple was taken to hospital by neighbours who heard their screams. While the wife succumbed to her injuries, the husband is in critical condition, the police said.
Bablu and Kalpana had married three years ago.
