A 19-year-old woman turned up at police station in Uttar Pradesh's Amroha with a foetus in a bag and demanded action against a man who, she alleged, had raped her and then forced her to abort the baby.

A case of rape has been registered against the 22-year-old accused, identified as Manoj, Hasanpur Kotwali SHO Devendra Sharma said.The accused is on the run.

"We have registered a case based on the complaint of the woman's family and raids were being conducted to arrest the accused, said Ajay Kumar, circle officer of police of Hasanpur. 

 The victim told the police that about six months ago she had gone to the forest to collect woods where a man raped her on gun-point. He threatened her to eliminate her and family if she ever shared the incident with anyone.

Fearing death threat, the girl did not tell her parents. But when she got pregnant, she told her mother about her rape. When the rapist came to know about her pregnancy, he barged into her house on July 13 and forced her on gun-point to take oral pills to terminate the five-month-old pregnancy.

The foetus has been sent to a forensic lab for examination, he said.The woman, who was accompanied by her mother, told police that the accused raped her at gunpoint five months ago and had threatened her with dire consequences if she revealed it.

Earlier in April this year, in a similar case, a 20-year-old woman in Madhya Pradesh's Satna district reached police station police superintendent's office to file a rape complaint carrying her four-month-old foetus in a bag.

The woman alleged that she was raped by four people for months and was forced to abort the baby.

She filed a complaint against four people -Neeraj Pandey, Dheeraj Pandey, Prem Kumar, Rajkumar and a nurse Sapna, who forcefully conducted her abortion. The victim said that the rapists threatened her for dire consequence if she revealed about the incident to anyone.
