There is good news for the residents of NCR as a satellite city will soon come up on the outskirts of Noida. In a major policy decision, the state government on Friday gifted the Noida Authority some 80 villages, which were previously under the jurisdiction of the Uttar Pradesh State Industrial Development Authority (UPSIDA), for further expansion.

Noida Authority CEO Ritu Maheshwari confirmed that the authority has been given the proposal to develop 80 villages between Greater Noida and Bulandshahr.

"The authority will develop these villages, which will come under Noida. This will expand the area under Noida," Ritu Maheshwari said. As per the Authority, there is huge scarcity of land in Noida. This proposal becomes very crucial in this context.

Though the Noida Authority has 20,316 hectares under its jurisdiction, only a limited portion of land is currently left for further expansion. Hence, Authority officials were in search of more lands.

Delhi - Mumbai Industrial Corridor (DMIC) is ambitious industrial project of the central government. This project has been jointly started by India and Japan to develop a massive industrial area. This corridor will pass through seven states - Delhi, Uttar Pradesh, Haryana, Rajasthan, Gujarat, Maharashtra and Madhya Pradesh.

Earlier, Noida has sought land from Greater Noida Development Authority and Yamuna Expressway Development Authority. Infact, Greater Noida Development Authority and Yamuna Expressway Development Authority owes Rs 5,000 crore and Rs 25,00 crore to Noida. The land was sought against the debt by these authorities, however, they denied it claiming interference of Noida Authority in their respective jurisdictions.

This had put Noida Development Authority in great fix as it was unable to execute any industrial or housing projects due to the scarcity of land. Now, that the Noida Authority have been given 80 villages of Bulandshahr, it can execute its projects with much ease.

Since the existing Noida city does not share its border with the boundary of any of these 80 villages, they will have to be developed like a satellite city in the coming years. But instead of placing the land chunks under the Greater Noida Authority or Yamuna Expressway Industrial Development Authority, senior officials felt it would be best to let the Noida Authority take their custody.
