"During the course of a conversation with children on Saturday (February 7), Azim Premji highlighted the inherent dangers involved in ignoring the issue of water scarcity. The statement was essentially to highlight this issue and it was not to be taken literally," Wipro said in a statement clarifying his remarks.

Responding to a question from school children on water problem at the 'Wipro Earthian 2014' programme in Bengaluru, Premji had said, "Well it is an extremely critical problem ... Unless we address the water problem - in reality terms we have to evacuate Bengaluru within next ten years. It is as serious as that in our major cities."
