The winter session of Parliament is expected to start on November 8, a day before US president Barack Obama is likely to address a joint session.

The session will be a month-long affair and is expected to conclude on December 10.

The calendar of sittings came up for discussion at a meeting of the Cabinet Committee on parliamentary affairs, presided by finance minister Pranab Mukherjee.

The meeting decided to recommend to the president to prorogue the Monsoon Session, which was adjourned sine die today.
