Imran Masood, Congress candidate from Saharanpur, on Monday called unfortunate the comments of Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath's calling him 'Azhar Masood's son-in-law' and said that nobody can question others' patriotism.

Adityanath, while addressing a rally in Saharanpur on Sunday, had termed the Congress candidate from the Lok Sabha constituency "son-in-law of Azhar Masood".

He said the "son-in-law of (Jaish-e-Mohammed chief) Azhar Masood" has entered the constituency and he speaks the language of the terror mastermind.

"You have to decide who wins from Saharanpur -- a person who speaks the language of Azhar Masood or a soldier of Modiji," Yogi said, seeking votes for the BJP candidate from Saharanpur, Raghav Lakhanpal.

Imran Masood is the Congress candidate from the constituency.

Responding to the UP CM, Masood on Monday said, "It's unfortunate, you can't question somebody's patriotism. If the country needs my head I will lay down my head. Mother India is as much mine as it is Yogi ji's."

Masood, infamous for his 2014 speech in which he allegedly threatened to chop Prime Minister Narendra Modi into pieces. He was then Congress' Lok Sabha candidate from Saharanpur, the very seat from where he has been fielded again.

He was jailed briefly for his speech after video footage of the election rally in Saharanpur, showing Masood attacking the BJP Prime Ministerial candidate, went viral.

"If Modi tries to make Uttar Pradesh into Gujarat, then we will chop him into tiny pieces...I am not scared of getting killed or attacking someone. I will fight against Modi. He thinks UP is Gujarat. Only 4% Muslims are there in Gujarat while there are 42% Muslims in UP," he said in the purported video.
