Ram Rahim has been sentenced to 20 years in prison after conviction in two rape cases. The sentence was passed in a special courtroom set up inside the Sunaria jail.

A threat has been issued to journalists, Haryana police officers and former Dera followers who have spoken against Ram Rahim, reported Haryana-Punjab Kesari.

The letter said that around 200 youths are ready to sacrifice their life for Ram Rahim, but they feel that they won't achieve anything by killing themselves. Therefore, they will look for family members of those maligning the image of Gurmeet Ram Rahim and will kill them.

The letter was sent to several media offices in Chandigarh through a registered post.

Meanwhile, police have also intensified a search for Honeypreet Insan, who has been on the run.

Earlier, during a sanitisation operation, the Haryana Police found illegal explosives factory, a tunnel connecting to Sadhvis residence inside the premises of Dera Sacha Sauda, in Sirsa.

During the trial for the quantum of sentencing, a special court at Rohtak prison had compared Ram Rahim Singh as a wild beast.

The court has fined him Rs 15 lakh in each of the two cases, of which Rs 14 lakh each would go to the two victims who were part of his sect and were coerced into having sex with him.

The defence counsel sought leniency from the court arguing that Ram Rahim was active in social work and had health issues.
