When Emma Watson took to stage at United Nations for #HeForShe campaign, the entire world listened with rapt attention. But, no sooner had she finished the speech that a hoax news about her nude leaked pictures started making rounds, thereby diminishing the actual cause she came to speak about. Bring this point to India and we still have a heated debate between a leading publication and Deepika Padukone over cleavage row. So, has our mindset towards respecting dignity of women not changed?

The answer seems to be no — With increasing number of rapes, molestation and horrific acts inflicted on women and small kids across India, the issue of women safety needs serious redressal. But, a video (part of the current social experiment series) which interviewed couple of Indians throws in some startling and shocking facts about the way society percieves women safety. 'Its not us, its them' seems to be the mantra as men and some women as well join the chorus and blame the victim by stating, 'She was asking for it because she broke the societal barriers — spoke up, walked on streets, pursued a career, wore what she wanted because its her body. 

Firstly, we wondered about the video and the estimate sample size used to pass the message. But, the truth is still the same — Victim shaming, societal taboos still exist and hence not only women but everyone who believes in the cause of a equal society which safeguards dignity of women needs to try and change the way people percieve women, their choices and independence.
