According to a study conducted by Associated Chambers of Commerce and Industry of India (Assocham), people seem to be keen to get over recession as hotels have reported a major rise in bookings.
Over 5 lakh tourists are expected to travel to popular destinations across the country to celebrate New Year. According to a study conducted by Associated Chambers of Commerce and Industry of India (Assocham), people seem to be keen to get over recession as hotels have reported a major rise in bookings.
Shimla, Kinnaur, Lahaul and districts of Spiti, Chamba, Kangra, Mandi, Nainital, Kullu, Manali, Mussoorie, Dalhousie, Kufri, Kashmir, Panchkula, Udaipur, Jaipur, Ooty, Mysore, Puducherry, Rameshwaram, Goa and Mahabaleshwar are heavily booked.
The survey was carried out in Delhi, Mumbai, Bangalore, Chennai, Kolkata, Jaipur, Chandigarh, Lucknow, Thiruvananthapuram and Ahmedabad among 3,500 travellers. Of these, 55% preferred travelling to north India to enjoy snowfall. Almost 35% preferred Goa, Puducherry, Kerala and Rameshwaram, while 10% desired to visit Ooty, Mahabaleshwar and Jaipur.
According to the study, the hospitality industry is witnessing a massive boom. With Europe badly hit by cold, foreigners too are flocking to India.
