In an unprecedented incident, a local court in West Bengal sentenced as many as 11 convicts to death on Thursday.

Nadia district's Krishnanagar court sentenced 11 convicts to death in connection with a murder of a woman in 2014. 

On November 23, 2014, when a mob lead by Trinamool Congress leader Lankeshwar Ghosh tried to forcibly acquire a piece of land used for farming under the Gughragachi village. When villagers including farmers stopped the mob, they hurled bombs and fired shots in return. 

A woman, Aparna Bag died in the incident and several others were left injured. The trial continued for over a year and finally it concluded on January 26 and all were held guilty under charges of murder, arms and explosives act. 

While announcing the quantum of punishment on Thursday, all were sentenced to death.
