West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee on Monday aimed her guns at the BJP-led Central government over the EVM issue as well as the Pulwama terror attack.

The TMC chief reiterated her apprehension that there would be attempts by the BJP to tamper with the Electronic Voting Machines (EVMs) in West Bengal during Lok Sabha polls. "I have been told that an agency has been hired to tamper with the EVMs which is why they are claiming to win more than 25 seats here. Counting agents, therefore, should undergo special training as far as the Voters Verifiable Paper Audit Trail (VVPAT)," she added.

She also constituted a three-member committee comprising TMC MPs Dinesh Trivedi, Sugata Roy and Partha Chatterjee to oversee the training programmes of counting agents.

Raising the issue of Pulwama attack which left 40 CRPF jawans dead, West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee asked whether it was a tactic to gain political dividend ahead of the forthcoming general election.

"Why could not the jawans be airlifted even after intelligence ahead of the attack? Why was the route of the convoy not sanitised? Is it a tactic to play politics over the bloods of our jawans?" she said at a party core committee meeting on Monday.

Mamata alleged that the present Central government's record has left a lot to be seen as they failed at all fronts from job security to national security. "We had defeated the 34-year-old Left Front government in Bengal. Only the TMC can, therefore begin a movement to oust the five-year Narendra Modi government," she said.

She reminded her party members of her mission to win all the 42 seats from Bengal and added that the party would also contest from other states, the details of which would be discussed on another meeting and then announced publicly.

Sources within the party said TMC was likely to contest from Assam, other than Bengal.

Her statements attracted political reactions. BJP state president Dilip Ghosh hit back at her saying, "At a time when the entire country is vocal against the attack demanding action against Pakistan, she is speaking in an opposite tone. Her party members are being killed everyday and she is silent. It is she who is doing politics over the Pulwama terror attack," Ghosh said.

CPI(M) MLA, Sujan Chakraborty, however alleged that both TMC and BJP were trying to gain political mileage over the bodies of jawans. "We are clear about our demands. We want a thorough probe in to the attack," he said.
