Six suspects were arrested in Jamalpur area in Burdwan district of West Bengal for allegedly traveling in a car with Ministry of Defence (MoD) number plates on Monday morning.

The Swift Dzire car, having a commercial number plate with MoD stickers and Ordinance Factory Board written on it, was on its way to Durgapur from Kolkata.

On the National Highway - 2, the car was stopped at a check point and the six people traveling inside the car were asked to produce valid MoD documents.

However, the suspects failed to provide any valid documents specifying that the car belonged to the MoD and establish themselves as employees of the ministry.

Immediately, the suspects were detained and the car was seized. Later, the suspects were arrested and are likely to be produced before the Burdwan court on Monday.

Burdwan district police officials reveal that the six suspects are residents of Topsia Road in Kolkata and that one of them has a criminal record.
