Ghosh alleged that TMC workers carried out the attack in the presence of police and TMC MP from Tamluk Dibyendu Adhikari. “It is seventh attack on me. We were conducting our meeting. Out of nowhere they appeared and without any provocation, started pelting stones at us, beat up our party workers and vandalised our bikes and cars. At least 10 of our workers have been injured. They can’t beat us democratically and so have resorted to these attacks,” Ghosh said.

It has been alleged that as soon as Ghosh entered the auditorium, TMC workers started pelting stones. Officials of Contai PS, Combat Force personnel were pressed in to bring situation under control.

Adhikari, however, blamed infighting within BJP as the reason of the clash. “Ghosh has the habit of saying such things and making inciting speeches. TMC does not believe in the politics of violence,” he said.
