Weather Alert: IMD predicts rain in THESE states over next few days

The IMD has predicted maximum temperature over most areas of Delhi, Haryana, Punjab, Chandigarh, and west Uttar Pradesh to be 28-33 degrees Celsius.

Different regions in northwest India are likely to encounter a wet spell along with a thunderstorm this week as a result of a fresh western disturbance. According to the India Meteorological Department (IMD), the areas in the western Himalayan region like Jammu and Kashmir, Himachal Pradesh, Uttarakhand, Ladakh, among others will see fairly widespread to widespread rainfall or snowfall on March 6 and 7.

The IMD said in its prediction, "A fresh Western Disturbance is very likely to affect Western Himalayan Region from the night of 05th March and adjoining plains of Northwest India from the night of 06th March."

"Fairly widespread to widespread rainfall/snowfall likely over Western Himalayan Region during 06th-07th March," said the IMD in its tweet. It is under the influence of the western disturbance that is going to affect the region from Friday night (March 5) and other parts in northwest India from Saturday night (March 6).

"Isolated heavy rainfall/snowfall very likely over Jammu, Kashmir, Ladakh, Gilgit, Baltistan & Muzaffarabad on 06th & 07th and over Himachal Pradesh and Uttarakhand on 07th March," the IMD predicted.

Similarly, the IMD said that thunderstorm along with hail and lightning was expected at certain places in Himachal Pradesh, Uttarakhand, Ladakh, Jammu, and Kashmir. Regions like Punjab, Haryana, Chandigarh, west Uttar Pradesh, and the capital city of Delhi were likely to witness light rain and drizzle along with lightning on March 7, according to the IMD.

"Scattered to fairly widespread rainfall very likely over Arunachal Pradesh and isolated to scattered rainfall over Assam & Meghalaya with thunderstorm/lightning during 03rd-06th March," the IMD added.

The IMD has predicted the maximum temperature over most areas of Delhi, Haryana, Punjab, Chandigarh, and west Uttar Pradesh to be in the range of 28-33 degrees Celsius during this week.
