Sukhamrit Soin, music producer-
I left Delhi along with three of my friends and our driver for Hemkund Sahib on Sunday around 5am. The drive was fine till Devprayag. But, just as we crossed Devprayag, we got stuck in an endless traffic jam. The road ahead of us was closed due to landslides and we remained stuck on the road for six hours. Many drivers, who thought that the jam would not open up for several hours, slept off in their vehicles. Some drivers even sustained injuries.
Eventually, we woke up several drivers, asking them to move ahead slowly. Finally, we reached a resort in Kirti Nagar on Monday which had already turned into a veritable refugee camp with people taking up any available space. The river Alaknanda was flowing right behind the resort and we could see several buses, cars and other debris floating in the river. We tried to return to Delhi but was informed by the resort manager that it was impossible to get out. When it finally stopped raining on Tuesday, the manager helped us to get out through a longer route via Pauri and Kotdwar. It took us 11 hours to reach Delhi."
