At the Suraj Maidan in Jaipur, ironically, under the cover of clouds and imminence of showers, BJP’s national president Amit Shah rained hard on the Opposition. His ire was directed at the divisive issues that the Opposition along with the Congress has been picking up to berate the Narendra Modi government at the Centre.

“We won when they made an issue of the Award Wapasi. We won again when they took Akhlaq’s case and spun it to get political mileage,” Shah told the BJP office bearers and workers at the conference of Shakti Kendra Units, the first in a series of meetings planned in the city during his daylong visit, on Tuesday. “Yeh phir se koi naya kaand karenge (They will not stop and will cook up some issue again ahead of the elections). And, I am telling you, we will again,” he told a packed venue.

The BJP president made it clear that the assembly elections of the three states, which are scheduled in December this year, and the 2019 Lok Sabha elections, will be fought under the leadership of prime minister Narendra Modi.

While addressing the office bearers of four organizational districts of the Jaipur division at Suraj Maidan, Shah reminded them why the upcoming assembly elections in the three states are critical to the party’s return to power at the Centre next year. “The assembly elections in Rajasthan, Madhya Pradesh and Chhattisgarh to be held in December will decide which government will be in the Lok Sabha,” he told the party rank and file. Continuing with his address, he told them, “We have to win the elections in all three states, so that Narendra Modi can be made the prime minister once again.”

As a guru mantra ahead of the polls, Shah chalked out the homework of all party workers. Every worker will now have to touch base with the people of at least 5 villages. “Go to the villages, show the residents there the photo of the prime minister. Tell them the works that the central and state governments have done for them,” Shah told the workers. He asked them to tell the villagers about everything that the Modi government at the Centre has been doing for the country. “Tell them about the surgical strike,” he hollered at the audience.

Taking a dig at the opposition leaders who questioned the surgical strike, Shah said, "What is patriotism? Humpty Dumpty and Changu-Mangu would never know?" Taking a dig at Rajasthan Congress, Shah said, "there is no leader (in the state), there is no policy or programme of the Congress. We know that our leader is Narendra Modi. BJP has a policy and programmes.”

The event was attended by the head of the party's Shakti Kendra unit and members of madal and district-level executives in four districts Alwar, Dausa and Jaipur city and rural districts. Some 6,000 BJP office bearers attended Shah’s address.
