West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee today paid tribute to Manna Dey on the 98th birth anniversary of the singing legend.

"Remembering the evergreen singer and our pride Manna Dey on his 98th birth anniversary," Banerjee posted in her Twitter handle.

Meanwhile, Cultural organisations held programmes in the city and elsewhere where singers regaled the audiences with Manna Dey's evergreen Hindi and Bengali hits like 'Zindagi kaisi Hai Paheli' and 'Sabai Toh Sukhi Hote Chay' respectively.

Bengali television channels also aired programmes and interviews on the occasion including past interview with the doyen of music.

Dey's birthday was also observed in the iconic coffee house in College Street area of the city and his song "Coffee Houser Sei Addata Aaj Aar Nei," played in the background invoking nostalgia.

Manna Dey died in October 2013, following a renal failure and respiratory illness.
