Later, the driver changed the tyre since the clamp can only be opened with the help of a key. He kept the tyre, attached with the clamp in its boot and tried to flee, when the same sergeant chased him and started thrashing him.

While the police has arrested the offender, they have initiated a disciplinary action against the traffic sergeant seen thrashing the driver of the vehicle. However, the police refused to reveal the identity of the traffic sergeant. "We have registered a case against the offending driver for stealing government property and arrested him. We condone what the traffic sergeant has done and we have initiated disciplinary action against him," said Deputy Commissioner of Police (Traffic), V Solomon Nesakumar.
