Prasad, 68, was rushed to Indira Gandhi Institute of Medical Sciences (IGIMS), where he underwent X-rays and tests and was attended by doctors. Sources said there were no fractures but he has sustained lower back injuries.

Prasad, who was attending a "yajna" function in the capital, told reporters he could feel swelling in his lower back due to falling when the dais broke. The injury did not deter Prasad, who addressed the gathering at the function before heading for the hospital."There was a lot of crowd at the venue and people assembled on one side because of which it must have got heavy and broke. I am in much pain," Prasad said, while he was on his way to the hospital. He was accompanied by both sons - deputy Chief Minister of Bihar Tejashwi Yadav and Bihar health minister Tej Pratap Yadav and daughter and parliamentarian Misa Bharti to the hospital. A number of his party leaders and workers too started gathering at the hospital after hearing the news.It may be recalled that Prasad had sustained minor injuries at an election meeting in East Champaran in October 2015, when a fan had fallen on his hand while he was listening to one of the speakers.Prasad's RJD, with 80 MLAs, is the single largest party in Bihar legislative assembly.
