In the latest edition of incredulous developments relating to the India-China border tensions, a video showing the Chinese People's Liberation Army (PLA) soldiers crying inside a bus before heading towards the Sino-India border, has gone viral.
Although it might come across as mildly interesting on first glance, reveals a compelling story on further introspection. According to reports, the footage shows the new troops who are mere college students, breaking down while struggling to sing a Chinese military song. The footage was originally posted on a Chinese WeChat page of a local network in the eastern Chinese province of Anhui, but deleted soon after.

Reports said that the recruits from the Yingzhou district of Fuyang city in Anhui were singing a popular Chinese military song "Green Flowers in the Army". Apparently, the young Chinese recruits were high on emotion and sentiment while singing, hence the tears.
However, Taiwanese media such as Liberty Times and Taiwan News have an interesting stance on the story. Taiwan, known for its anti-Xi Jinping stance, mocked the video and said that the soldiers were, in fact, crying before being deployed to the border as they were scared of a confrontation with the Indian Army.
Accordingly to Taiwanese media, the video was reportedly shot at Fuyang railway station.
In a rebuttal, the Chinese side slammed Taiwan News by saying that they had deliberately misinterpreted the emotional video. China's state mouthpiece Global Times stated that the soldiers were emotional because they had just bid farewell to their parents.
