Panth, a police constable currently posted at Meghaninagar police station, was first summoned by the SIT in April 2011 after Bhatt mentioned him as a key witness. Bhatt had said Panth could prove that he was present at the crucial meeting held at the chief minister’s bungalow in Gandhinagar on February 27, 2002.

Earlier, Bhatt had told DNA that Panth was not allowed to go anywhere for a single minute while he was being questioned by the probe team.

“He was threatened by SIT officials. He could have broken under pressure,” Bhatt had told DNA after Panth filed an FIR against him.
