The allegations and counter-allegations in Punjab politics don't seem to end anytime soon even after Navjot Singh Sidhu withdrew his resignation from the post of Punjab Congress Chief on Friday. Sidhu has now demanded Punjab Advocate General APS Deol resign for representing two accused cops in the 2015 sacrilege and police firing case.

Hitting back at Sidhu, APS Deol has now alleged that the Congress leader is obstructing the functioning of the state government and Office of the Advocate General. Deol accused Sidhu of spreading misinformation to gain a political advantage over his political colleagues.

While taking back his resignation Navjot Singh Sidhu had added a clause that he would resume charge only after the state government will replace DGP I P S Sahota and Advocate General APS Deol.

"There is a concerted attempt by vested interests to malign the functioning of the Congress party in view of the coming elections in Punjab for their selfish political gain, by politicizing the constitutional office of the Advocate General of Punjab," Deol said in a statement.

Navjot Singh Sidhu resigned from his post on September 28, seeking the removal of Sahota and Deol. Meanwhile, the Punjab government recently said it had received the resignation of APS Deol, but that the matter would be decided at the next Cabinet meeting.

After Sidhu's presser on Friday, the state government postponed the Cabinet meeting to Sunday which was earlier scheduled for Saturday.
