Unsuccessful attempts to recover £,9900 UK from a visa consultancy firm led Dharam Brahmbhatt to approach Navrangpura police where he lodged a cheating complaint against three people — Snehal Mehta, Harendra Raval, and Dinesh Vyas.

Brahmbhatt, a city-based education counsellor, works with a private firm which provides guidance and foreign visas to students. In 2009, Brahmbhatt met the three accused through his elder brother Mehul, who recommended the trio for all types of visa related work.

According to Brahmbhatt, he met the trio at their office ‘Sahaj Consultants’ located in Rajshree Avenue near Income tax on Ashram road. During the meeting, the trio assured him of best services for student visas. They claimed to have alliance with London-based Britannia College of Excellence. As per the offer, the trio promised to give 30% commission on the fees collected by the college from Indian students who were sent through Sahaj consultant.

Everything went smooth during 2009-10 and Brahmbhatt sent 18 students to the London-based college through Sahaj consultant. The trio charged £3300 UK as fees from each student and gave the commission to Brahmbhatt accordingly.

However, in 2010, the London College was ordered to be shut down by the UK authorities. Before it was shut down, Brahmbhatt had already sent £9900 as fees for three of his Haryana-based students, namely Vivek Siokand, Sukhbir Singh, and Punam Panjeta, who had paid £3300 each through a local agent in Haryana. Brahmbhatt had sent the money to the trio to get student visas for these three kids for London.

When Brahmbhatt learnt about the closure of the college, he asked the trio to return the money. However, the trio argued that the money was already sent to the college and the college authorities are not responding. Thus vexed with their vague responses, and not being able to get the money back till date, which is valued at Rs8.5 lakh today, Brahmbhatt lodged a formal complaint with the cops on Thursday.
