Viluppuram Lok Sabha Constituency 2019: Viluppuram parliamentary constituency will go to polls on April 18, which is the second phase of Lok Sabha election 2019. The polling in all the 39 Lok Sabha seats in Tamil Nadu will be held in the second phase. The key contest in Viluppuram in 2019 is going to be held among DMK’s D Ravikumar and AIADMK's alliance partner PMK’s Vadivel Ravanan. 

AIADMK's S Rajendran is the sitting MP in Viluppuram, who defeated Dr K Muthaiyan of the DMK in 2014 with a margin of close to 2 lakh votes.  

The two major parties in Tamil Nadu — AIADMK and DMK — has entered into an alliance with a number of parties for the forthcoming elections. 
 
AIADMK is contesting the election in alliance with BJP, PMK, DMDK, Tamil Maanila Congress, Puthia Tamizagam, Puthia Needhi Katchi and NR Congress. While DMK has aligned with Congress, CPI(M), CPI, MDMK, VCK, IUML, KMDK and IJK.  

Tamil Nadu has a total of 39 parliamentary constituencies where 7 of them including Sriperumbudur, Chidambaram, Rasipuram, Pollachi, Perambalur, Tenkasi, and Nagapattinam have been reserved for candidates representing scheduled caste community. However, no seat here has been reserved for Scheduled Tribes. 

According to the 2011 census data, Viluppuram houses a total of 3,458,873 people out of which 1,741,000 are males. The district has an average literacy rate of 72%.

Viluppuram Lok Sabha results in 2014 and 2009 

2014: S Rajendran of the AIADMK received 482704 votes and he defeated Dr K Muthaiyan of the DMK who only got 289337 votes. 

2009: KM Anandan Kumar of the of AIADMK  received 306826 votes. He defeated K Swamidurai of the VCK who only got 304029 votes.

Two national parties — Modi's BJP and Rahul Gandhi's Congress — in order to make further in-grounds in the state are contesting the forthcoming elections in alliance with two major parties of the state. The BJP has entered into a tie-up with the AIADMK and will be contesting on 5 seats while Congress will contest polls in alliance with the DMK on 8 seats.

Lok Sabha elections in all the 39 constituencies in Tamil Nadu will take place on April 18.

Thiruvallur, Chennai North, Chennai South, Chennai Central, Sriperumbudur, Kancheepuram, Arakkonam, Vellore, Krishnagiri, Dharmapuri, Tiruvannamalai, Arani, Viluppuram, Kallakurichi, Salem, Namakkal, Erode, Tiruppur, Nilgiris, Coimbatore, Pollachi, Dindigul, Karur, Tiruchirappalli, Perambalur, Cuddalore, Chidambaram, Mayiladuthurai, Nagapattinam, Thanjavur, Sivaganga, Madurai, Theni, Virudhunagar, Ramanathapuram, Thoothukkudi, Tenkasi, Tirunelveli, Kanniyakumari.

Parliamentary elections 2019 are taking place in 7 phases. The first phase voting has already taken place which was held on April 11. The remaining phases will go to polls on April 18, April 23, April 29, May 6, May 12 and May 19. Counting of votes will be held on May 23.
