Vigilance officials today conducted raids in Civil supplies ration godowns and ration shops across Kerala following a host of complaints including that foodgrains were diverted to open markets.

Various types of irregularities including not maintaining proper accoutns of goods were detected during raids in Wayanad, Idukki, Malappuram, Kozhikode, Thrissur, Palakkad and Kannur districts, an official release said here.

Further steps would be taken based on the raid reports, state DGP Loknath Behra, who also holds the post of Vigilance Director, said.

The raids were conducted based on complaints received by the Vigilance that foodgrains meant for public distribution system were being diverted to open markets, proper accounts were not maintained and that there was lack of check on the quality of ration materials supplied.
