According to a report published in The Daily Mail, the photographs have been clicked by amateur photographers and wildlife enthusiasts Soumen Bajpai. The photos were taken in eastern Odisha.

A genetic defect causes the black stripes on the tiger. The animal with this defect has thick black stripes, with little space between them. According to the 2018 Tiger Census report, there has been a drastic reduction in black-striped tigers. However, it is notable that 70 percent of the world's black tiger population is in Odisha. Most of the total population can be found in the Similipal Tiger Reserve in Odisha. The first black-striped tiger was reported in the said reserve in 2007.

Wildlife expert and scientist of Wildlife Institute of India Dr. Biwash Pandav had recently claimed that black-striped tigers are 'unique' in the world. He said, "Only seven to eight people are left in Odisha. These black tigers are unique due to the genetic constitution. "

According to Dr. Bishwa, this black stripe is the result of the interaction. He also mentioned that this type of tiger is smaller than normal tigers. He also mentioned that first of its kind spot in India in 1990.

Revealing the reason for the tigers living only in Odisha, wildlife experts and scientists from the Wildlife Institute of India mentioned many forests and habitats as tigers do not feel the need to move from place to place as a result.
