"If people are converting voluntarily there should be no problem but if force is being used the state government should take action. If the state government is unable to do so, a central law should be called for," said Naidu.

According to reports, about 100 Christian tribals were reportedly converted to Hinduism at an event organized by the Vishwa Hindu Parishad (VHP) in south Gujarat's Valsad on Saturday. Last week, around 200 people were reportedly converted to Hinduism in a ceremony in Agra by groups linked to the BJP's ideological mentor RSS.

The Bajrang Dal and the Dharam Jagran Manch, the groups that performed the mass conversions, reportedly claimed that the families were originally Hindus and converted to Islam around 30 years ago.
