CHENNAI: In order to conduct research on nano technology, Bharathiar University, Coimbatore would set up a nano facility centre.
    
The centre would collaborate with DRDO and international leaders in nano technology field such as Arkansas University, US, an official press release said on Friday.
    
State Planning Commission invited Dr A Sivathanu Pillai, CEO, Brahmos, and Dr Vijay K Varadhan, Director, Nano facility centre, Arkansas, for a meeting to make a presentation on the technology and to explore possibility of using it in various fields like health care, education and economic development.
    
Pillai, in his presentation, explained the use of the technology in various fields like energy, water and health care and DRDO had taken efforts to start co-operative research in the field with the universities.

G Thiruvasagam, Vice-Chancellor, Bharathiar University, said the centre would be milestone in the history of the university as it would serve society through production of nano technology products and services.
