Vaghela, who is at loggerheads with the Congress leadership, which has overlooked several of his concerns, had announced on Tuesday he will hold a meeting with his supporters on Saturday to decide his future course of political moves.

Vaghela is believed to have discussed his concerns, including his issues with the state leadership, with Patel. Highly placed sources in the party told DNA that the meeting was fruitful. The senior leader was assured that the Congress High Command will positively look into the issues raised by him.

While there have been reports that Vaghela has agreed to postpone Saturday’s meeting by 15 more days, his office in Gujarat has ruled out rescheduling.

Analysis

Shankarsinh Vaghela has been a disgruntled leader in the Gujarat state Congress.

Vaghela knows that a leaderless BJP in Gujarat after Modi’s ascent will be happy to take him back and offer him plum post in case the party returns to power.
