The heavy rains and thunderstorms in Uttarakhand have caused a lot of destruction across the state, with the death toll rising once again. As per reports, 52 people have lost their lives and 5 people have been reported missing amid the rain-related incidents.

As per the officials in Uttarakhand, seventeen people have gotten injured amid the heavy rains and landslides in the state. Rescue operations are still being conducted by the Indian Army, NDRF, and local authorities to make sure that there are no more casualties.

The Nainital district became one of the worst-hit parts of Uttarakhand by the rains as it reported around 28 deaths alone. The district was initially cut off from the rest of the state after landslides blocked all the highways, but they are currently being repaired as the situation is improving.

Over the course of the past few days, the National Disaster Response Force (NDRF) has rescued over 1,300 people from flood-affected areas in the state. Initially, 15 teams of NDRF were deployed in the state, but as the situation kept worsening, the number of teams was increased to 17.

Uttarakhand Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami visited the Kumaon region in the state to assess the damage caused by the heavy rains and floods. The chief minister further sanctioned Rs 10 crore to each district for their relief efforts for the rains.

Though the death toll has risen significantly over the past two days, the Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) has stated that the situation in Uttarakhand is now on its way to getting better as the rainfall will reduce significantly for the rest of the week.

As the situation in Uttarakhand is getting better, the state government has given the order to resume the Kedarnath, Gangotri, and Yamunotri Yatra for all the pilgrims in the state. The Badrinath pilgrimage has not been resumed yet as the Pipalkoti-Joshinath-Badrinath stretch of the national highway remained blocked at several places due to a landslide.
