The SHO Gopalganj Police Station Sunil Verma has been removed and action is likely to be taken against others who were allegedly involved in the lock-up death
Bhadohi District Magistrate Rajendra Prasad has ordered a magisterial probe into alleged police torture of a 48-year-old man Ramji Mishra at Gopiganj Police Station that led to his death in the lock-up after a video of deceased's daughter, crying and accusing police men of killing her father in cold blood, went viral.
The SHO Gopalganj Police Station Sunil Verma has been removed and action is likely to be taken against others who were allegedly involved in the lock-up death.
The daughter alleged that her father Ramji Mishra had gone to the Gopiganj Police Station following a dispute with his brother Ashok on a property. Both were locked up and police allegedly used third degree torture on Ramji following which he fell unconscious.
He was rushed to the district hospital where he was declared dead on arrival. Family members charged the Gopalganj police of brutally beating Ramji who died in the lock-up.
Sachindra Patel, SP Bhadhoi, however, denied the family allegations. HE claimed that Ramji was having some prior health issues which aggravated after his argument with his brother.
The SP said that the post mortem report of the deceased also did not show any traumatic and internal injury marks on the body. "A magisterial inquiry has been ordered and strict action will be taken if anyone found guilty," assured the SP.
But family members have refused to believe the police theory. "They may have changed the post mortem report. We demand a CBI probe to punish police men who killed my father," stated the elder daughter, whose video demanding justice for her father went viral on the social media.
