A farmer in Saharanpur has removed the standing sugarcane crop and provided eight bighas of rented land for the Prime Minister's rally, scheduled on May 26, while refusing to take compensation.

Raees Ahmed's land on which he was cultivating sugarcane was falling in the area earmarked for the rally, MP from Saharanpur, Raghav Lakhanpal Sharma said.

Ahmed on his own provided the land for the programme and even refused to take compensation for his crop, he said yesterday.

A stage and a pandal are being set up on 265 bighas of land along Delhi road area here for the rally of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Sharma added.
