The engine of the Azamgarh- Varanasi City Tamsa passenger train derailed here in the early hours of Friday, Railway sources said.

No injury was reported.

The incident took place when the train, which leaves Azamgarh around 5 am for Varanasi, was being taken to the platform from the yard, they said.

The engine derailed around 4.30 am. No one was injured as the train was empty. The driver and other staff escaped unhurt, the sources said.

The engine was re-railed after a two-hour operation.

Station Master Baburam said that the train left for Varanasi around 9 am.
