The Uttar Pradesh government has decided to bring in a bill to revoke cases lodged against "innocent" Muslim youths for their alleged involvement in terror activities and provide them suitable compensation. "Chief Minister Akhilesh Yadav has decided to bring in a bill to revoke cases lodged against innocent Muslim youths in the name of their involvement in terrorist activities and also to give them compensation for their arrest," Samajwadi Party spokesperson Rajendra Chowdhury said.The chief minister has also decided to bring bills for implementation of recommendations of Ranganath Mishra and Rajinder Sachar Committees and for constituting trusts of Muslims religious institutions, he said.Chowdhury said that the SP government would also remove encroachments on Waqf properties.On price rise, the party spokesperson said the government has decided to remove tax on grain, wheat, flour, rice and other essential commodities and revise VAT rates to bring their prices at par with those prevailing in other states.The government has also decided to do away with reservation in promotions as per the directions of the High Court, Chowdhury said.The decision will help eligible persons to get promoted, he added.
