With a view to encouraging people's participation in "Clean, Green and Healthy UP" programme launched by the Uttar Pradesh government, Chief Minister Akhilesh Yadav today announced cash rewards for the best performing hospitals and wards.

"In the special campaign being run by KGMU, SGPGIMS and other government hospitals in Lucknow, the hospital coming first would be given Rs 50 lakhs, the second prize would be of Rs 30 lakhs and third of Rs 20 lakhs, an official statement said quoting the chief minister.

A cleanliness drive would be run in all the wards of Lucknow, Agra and Mathura and those putting up best performances would also be rewarded, the statement said.
