A 45 years old journalist Hemant Singh Yadav was shot dead by two unknown assailants on Saturday evening in Dhanapur police jurisdiction of Chandauli district in Uttar Pradesh.

Police told media on Sunday that Yadav who hailed from Ahikora was returning home with cattle food from Kamlapur on his bike when the incident took place. 

Eye witnesses saw two men flee the crime scene after the villagers heard gun shot. Some villagers have also told that Hemant was stopped by the assailants first, and upon a brief conversation, one of them shot him. As per several media reports, villagers took Yadav to the nearest hospital where he was declared dead. 

Police has said that Yadav worked for a TV news channel and motive behind this murder is yet to be ascertained. Investigations are going on.
