The announcement was made while addressing weavers, students and intellectuals at Madanapalle on Monday.

Stressing that the handloom industry is the second biggest in the country after agriculture, he said that the government was committed to protecting the interests of weavers.

He also said he had interacted with various sections of the people including women, farmers, weavers and those involved in the unorganised sector during last two years. Based on these interactions, he said that there have been issues identified which affect each section of the society. He said that these issues will be taken up with the ministries concerned so they can find a solution.
