The duo, identified as Sunil Tanti and Sourav Dolui, were making video recording standing on the railway tracks when they were hit by Dn Naihati-Budgebudge local from behind at around 1 pm, the officer said.

The two were students of Surendranath College and Bangabasi College, and hailed from Sodepur in North 24 Parganas district.

An inquiry has been ordered into the incident.

Earlier in the month, a man from Hyderabad ended up in hospital after he was hit by a Multi-Modal Transport System (MMTS) train on Monday. According to a Deccan Chronicle report, the man has multiple injuries to his head and face.

The video, which was taken down by YouTube due to its graphic nature, shows the man, identified only as Shiva, smiling at his smartphone camera as the train approaches from behind. As he is about to shoot the video, someone is heard warning him, but to no avail.

The speeding train suddenly hits the man and the image goes blank after a loud sound. The audio, still on, indicates a commotion as people realise what happened and rush towards the injured man.
