Two Dalit children burnt alive in Haryana; Rajnath Singh calls up CM Khattar, asks to ensure security to everyone

Concerned over the killing of two children of a Dalit family in a suspected inter-caste clash, Home Minister Rajnath Singh on Tuesday asked Haryana Chief Minister Manohar Khattar to ensure security to everyone and prevent any recurrence of such incident.

Two children of a Dalit family were burnt alive and their parents suffered injuries allegedly after some persons from an upper caste set their house afire while they were sleeping.

The incident occurred at around 2 AM in Sonped village on the outskirts of Delhi, according to police.

In a telephonic conversation with the Chief Minister, the Union Minister expressed concern over the killing of the two children of a Dalit family in Haryana's Faridabad district.

"The Union Home Minister asked the Chief Minister to ensure peace and that such incidents don't recur in future," an official said. The Home Ministry has also sought a report from the state administration.

Vaibhav, who was two-and-a-half years old, and his sister, 11-month-old Divya, died on the spot after the attackers allegedly poured petrol and set the house ablaze.

Their mother Rekha suffered 70% burns and has been referred to Delhi for treatment while their father Jitender too suffered injuries while trying to save his family.

Security has been tightened in the village and we are investigating the matter.
