Tunnel detected along Pakistan border in J&K's Samba district, security forces carry out anti-tunnelling operation

The BSF is taking no chances and has launched a massive operation since Friday to unearth more such tunnels.

 An underground tunnel on the international border in Jammu and Kashmir's Samba district was detected by the Border Security Force (BSF) on Sunday, November 22. 

The tunnel was discovered by a patrol party of the BSF and is believed to have been used for infiltration across the border. 

According to BSF officials, the four Jaish-e-Mohammad terrorists killed in an encounter on Thursday may have used the tunnel to infiltrate into the country from Pakistan.

The BSF is taking no chances and has launched a massive operation since Friday to unearth more such tunnels. The Army and police are also a part of this operation which is still going on.

Security forces had received information about the four terrorists infiltrating into the country from across the international border in Samba sector. After receiving the information security forces carried out an encounter near the Jammu-Srinagar national highway toll on Thursday and killed all the four terrorists who were travelling in a Kashmir-bound truck.

A huge cache of arms and ammunition including 11 AK series rifle, 29-30 Chinese grenade, three pistols, two cutters and four-five kg of RDX was recovered from the slain terrorists. A remote, mobile phone, dry fruit, Pakistan-made medicines were also recovered from the slain terrorists.

The terrorists had come with the purpose to disrupt District Development Council polls, scheduled to be held in eight phases beginning November 28, said the police.

Two SOG men of the J&K police were injured in the Thursday encounter near the Jammu-Srinagar national highway toll. The injured were identified as Kuldeep Raj (32) of Akhnoor and Mohammad Ishaq Malik (40) of Neel Qasim Banihal Ramban.

Both had been admitted to GMC Jammu and are said to be in a stable condition now.
