It was just inaugurated on Friday by Mukul Roy.
The Agartala Municipal Corporation ordered the demolition of newly-inaugurated Tripura Trinamool Bhawan on Friday.
A day after the Tripura Trinamool Bhawan was inaugurated by senior party leader Mukul Roy, the mayor of Agartala Municipal Corporation, Dr. Prafulla Jit Sinha passed demotion orders for it. The mayor, Sinha alleged that the construction was illegal, as a result of which the corporation has ordered demolition of the Trinamool party office.
Sources in the CPIM-led civic body reveal that the Trinamool Congress constructed the party office overnight near the Sishu Udayan in Agartala.
“Before construction of any building, one needs permission and clearances. In this particular case, no permission was sought. The entire construction is illegal. We had sent them a notice of violation of guidelines, when the construction work began. But, they refused to stop and the construction work continued. Hence, we have passed demolition orders,” said Sinha.
This move of setting up a Trinamool Bhawan in Tripura comes in the wake of the party trying to make major inroads in this yet another Left-ruled state of the country.
Incidentally, the once number two in the party, Mukul Roy has been given the responsibility of making Trinamool Congress gain more ground in the state.
Commenting on the decision of demolition, Roy said, “The Left in Tripura is scared of Mamata Banerjee. They have understood that in the upcoming assembly polls in the state, scheduled to be held in 2018, Trinamool Congress has emerged as the prime opposition to the Left.”
On the other hand, party supremo Mamata Banerjee is all set to address a public meeting on August 9 in the state. Earlier, seven of the total 10 Congress MLAs had submitted their resignation to the Tripura Legislative Assembly speaker. These MLAs are likely to join the Trinamool Congress officially in this public meeting to be addressed by Banerjee.
