Puducherry Chief Minister V.Narayanasamy today paid floral tributes at the statue of former chief minister Edouard Goubert on the occasion of his 123rd birth anniversary.
PCC president and PWD Minister A Namassivayam, legislators, freedom fighters and delegates of different wings of the ruling Congress also paid homage.
Goubert, popularly known as 'papa Goubert' (father Goubert) was the first chief minister of Puducherry.
His close rapport with former Prime Minister Jawaharlal Nehru enabled him to establish a medical college (JIPMER) in the Central sector in Puducherry.
