With the government assuring security to operators of petroleum and oil tankers in Kashmir valley, the supply of petroleum and its products resumed today in Jammu and Kashmir after a five-day-long strike.About 109 tankers carrying petrol, diesel and kerosene oil left for Kashmir Valley and Ladakh this morning, official sources said.All J&K Oil Tankers' Drivers & Cleaners Union (AJKOTDCU) and Oil Tankers Association (OTA) had gone on a strike on August 26 in protest against attacks on tankers, drivers and conductors by protestors in the Kashmir Valley.AJKOTDCU president Anan Sharma and general secretary of OTA Davinder said they had met chief minister Omar Abdullah in Srinagar yesterday and he promised security to the convoy of oil tankers in Kashmir Valley.Over 70 tankers were attacked and 50 drivers and conductors injured during stone pelting by protestors in the Kashmir Valley during the past two months, they said.
