TMC MP Abhishek Banerjee on Sunday took a dig at BJP leader Mukul Roy and said that Roy's claim that 107 MLAs in West Bengal are going to join BJP soon is baseless. The TMC MP advised Roy to stop looking at other parties and focus on the Councillors of his constituency.

Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee's MP-nephew said Roy is 'Made-in-China Panchari', and Roy must recall how he had failed to stop his own councillors from leaving the BJP, how will he manage to bring 107 MLAs from TMC and other parties in BJP's fold.

BJP leader Mukul Roy on Saturday had said at an event that many TMC leaders are in talks to joining BJP, leaving the ruling in the state behind. He also said that BJP has list of MLAs from Congress, TMC and CPM who are keen to switching side, and most of them are from TMC.

Since BJP thumping victory in the Lok Sabha polls, in which party managed to make inroads across West Bengal. BJP won 18 seats out of 42 seats with 40% vote share, whereas TMC retained only 22 seats after losing 12seats compared to 2014 general elections.

In a significant development, at least 63 TMC councillors from Bhatpara, Halisahar, Naihati and Kanchrapara municipalities had joined the BJP in May, TMC MLAs from Bangaon and Noapara , Biswajeet das and Sunil Singh joined the BJP including Mukul Roy's son Subhrangshu Roy from Bijpur Constituency, beside the MLAs who had joined the saffron party were Tushar Kanti Bhattacharya, who had crossed over to the TMC from Congress, and, Debendra Nath Roy of CPM. A day later, another TMC MLA Monirul Islam joined tBJP.

Roy, who himself is one of the founders of TMC party himself joined BJP in 2017 after fallout from the party. Roy is said to have played crucial role in taking along many TMC leaders to BJP and is second-in-command for BJP in West Bengal. For his constant efforts of denting state's ruling party he is also called as BJP's Panchari in Bengal.

However, five TMC councillors from Kanchrapara and Halisahar municipality, who had defected from BJP, returned to the ruling party last week. Nine more returned on Saturday.
