After Prime Minister Narendra Modi laid the foundation stone of four-lane project of the section of NH-31D between Falakata and Salsabari in the Jalpaiguri section, West Bengal, TMC MLA and chairman of Siliguri Jalpaiguri Development Authority, Sourav Chakraborty, filed a complaint against him and National Highways Authority of India, alleging that his name along with some other party MPs and MLAs had been used in the advertisement of the foundation laying stone, without their consent.

Sourav Chakraborty has lodged a complaint with Kotwali Police Station in Jalpaiguri alleging that he was wrongly published in a newspaper which said that he will be the guest-of-honor at the foundation laying of 31-D National Highway.

This, he said, has damaged his image.

Meanwhile, PM Modi laid the foundation stone for the four-lane of the Falakata-Salsalabari section of National Highway-31 D.

The 41.7 km-long section of National Highway falls in Jalpaiguri district and will be constructed at a cost of about Rs 1938 crore, he said.

The project will reduce the distance from Salsalabari and Alipurduar to Siliguri by nearly 50 km and will boost tourism in the region, he added.

The four-lane of the national highway will facilitate better movement of tea and other agricultural produce from the region to markets.
