The police on Wednesday arrested one person for allegedly threatening family members of former West Bengal industries minister Nirupam Sen ahead of the Assembly elections scheduled for Thursday, the police said.

The arrested person has been identified as Sanjay Chakraborty, a local Trinamool Congress leader of ward no. 18, said Priyabrata Bakshi, Inspector in-Charge, Burdwan police station.

"We have been receiving complaints about these threat calls for some time and after investigating the case and on the complaint filed by Ainul Haque, the CPI(M) candidate from Burdwan South constituency, we arrested Sanjay Chakraborty," Bakshi said.
