Party Jamuria block president Purnosashi Mondal said the clash took place when he opposed the inauguration of a party office here, built without his permission by a group of TMC workers opposed to him. Faced with resistance from him, the opposing group threw bombs at him, which injured the three party workers, Mandal claimed.

He alleged that police lathicharged the party workers. The police confirmed the clash but denied any lathicharge. The police said the mob was dispersed by it and picket posted in view of the tension after the clash. One of the injured was rushed to a hospital at Asansol, about 25 km away, and the other two were allowed to go after first aid at the local health centre, the police added.
