At least three terrorists were killed by security forces in an encounter in Jammu and Kashmir’s Shopian on Monday (March 22) morning. Two of the slained terrorists were linked to Pakistan-backed terror outfit Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT).
Sources said that the encounter between the unidentified terrorists and security forces broke out at around 2 AM at the Manihal area of Shopian. Earlier, Jammu and Kashmir Police, the Indian Army and the CRPF had launched a joint operation after receiving inputs about the presence of some terrorists in the area.

The joint operation is still underway. The security forces are trying to ascertain the identity of the killed terrorists.
Talking to media, IG Kashmir Vijay Kumar said, "The two terrorists killed in an encounter with the security forces in Shopian were associated with Lashkar-e-Toiba (LeT)."
"Two more terrorists are trapped at the encounter site. The operation is still underway,'' IG Vijay Kumar said.
