One mobile, three sim cards and some other items were seized from the prison inmates on June 16 during a surprise check carried out by the district magistrate, Jail Superintendent Rakesh Singh said.

A case has been registered against four inmates in this connection.

"The jail authorities yesterday suspended wardens A K Tiwari, Raj Bahadur and Chandreprakash, and initiated departmental proceedings against wardens Jaiprakash and Munna Khan," said Singh.

It is suspected that the mobile phone was being used for planning criminal activities, the official said.
