The encounter broke out at around 8 pm at Wanihama village of Anantnag, following an anti-militancy operation launched by the security forces, said a defence spokesman.

The terrorists have been identified as members of the LeT. They have been identified as Shaukat louhar, Mudassir and Zibran.

Meanwhile, earlier today, militants had attacked an Army convoy at Bijbehara in the Anantnag district of J&K, an Army official said, adding that a man was injured when the forces fired back.

Security forces have cordoned off the area and launched an operation to track down the militants, the official said.

"Terrorists opened fire on the last vehicle of the army convoy near Bijbehara. We retaliated and a man was injured in the incident," he said, as per PTI.

Haji Abdullah (60), a resident of Arwani in Bijbehara, suffered a bullet injury on his left thigh and is undergoing treatment at the Bone and Joint Hospital here, the official said.
